Winner of Animal Partnership Award – Soldiering On Awards ’18

Thanks to all of you we were the Winner of the Animal Partnership Awards, sponsored by Pets At Home, which was decided by Public Vote in the prestigious Soldiering on Awards. We feel this is very much a moment for ALL of us to celebrate and be proud of what has been accomplished and excited about the journey that lies ahead!

Last Friday night was an enormous event for our Charity and one of our PTSD Assistance Dog Partnerships; Army veteran Mark and beautiful dog Jerry showing how they both continue to give back by inspiring new veterans coming onto the programme and Mark fulfilling his mentor role.

Moments as this make it clear that what we do cannot be done without the incredible support of you, fundraisers, sponsors and funders.

Becoming the winners put us on a national platform, it allowed bringing to the fore, the still relatively new idea in the UK of, Assistance Dogs specifically trained for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and reducing stigma of PTSD as the high price some of veterans pay.

We were beaming with pride throughout not only for Mark who came to such a huge event – which is no mean feat for anyone who has PTSD, or Jerry who was a perfect example of an Assistance Dog but also for our wonderful trainers, fosters, other volunteers and the veterans (of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services) who start their new journeys with our charity. We just couldn’t do this without having so many brilliant people working so hard (thank you!) – this award is for all of us!

What stood out on the night was the buzz of being surrounded by equally passionate, determinate, committed individuals, organisations and other charities to improve the lives of others.

We would not have won at all if it wasn’t for all of you that took the time and trouble to vote, you have helped us to continue our work and grow!

We are humbled by your support and grateful that you recognise the difference it makes!

Thank you!
