A living hell no longer – My life has changed because of Bella
We received this from Terry one of our veterans on the programme, Terry is an Army veteran (pictured with Bella – a rescue dog now a PTSD Assistance Dog in Training)
“I have returned home to the city where I grew up, I didn’t want to but I had to get away from a relationship that was poisoning me and her. Homeless after six weeks of an intensive residential course with Combat Stress for PTSD the council homed me through a housing association close to the common and beach, alone and lost I had no direction. I then was partnered with Bella from Service Dogs UK. My life changed, I have made more friends since we met because she gets me out and because she is so beautiful I can’t help but talk to people there is no choice.
We have just spent 2 hours walking on the beach in the sun, which is something I could not have done without her, I now have no anxiety and just feel relaxed. I have not felt like this for more years than I care to remember. I am not being dramatic when I say Service Dogs UK have saved my life and I will do whatever I can to forward their cause.
I wrote this to help other people in pain, it [PTSD] can be a living hell”
