South West Hub

South West Hub, Somerton

Service Dogs UK helping Veterans in the South West

Welcome to the Service Dogs UK South West Hub, based in Somerton (near Yeovil), Somerset.

The South West Hub started in October 2020, under the guidance of Hub Manager, Nigel Rousell. Nigel has been involved with SDUK since becoming our first trainer back in 2015. Nigel is ably assisted by his experienced training team and is also supported by a wonderful team of ‘Fab Fosters’ who look after the dogs before they are partnered with our Veterans.

Training is currently held twice a week on Wednesday and on Saturday mornings in Somerton. Both venues are minutes from the A303.

Currently we have two Army Veterans, who have been paired with their dogs, Patch and Bella. The dogs are ‘rescues’ who have come from The Dogs Trust in Salisbury. They have been specially assessed to carry out the role and the Veterans and dogs are doing brilliantly together!

Full details of how to apply to join this life changing programme can be found here.
