At Service Dogs UK, we’re proud to be led by a dedicated team of staff and trustees who share a deep commitment to changing lives—two at a time. Coming from a variety of backgrounds, our team brings together expertise in dog training, mental health, the Armed Forces, Emergency Services, and charity work. Together, we work to support Veterans and rescue dogs on their journey to a better future.

Garry Botterill
SDUK Founder
Garry served in the Royal Navy before becoming a frontline Police Sergeant, where he led on major incidents and championed mental health initiatives. Passionate about dogs and PTSD recovery, he developed national programmes linking rescue dogs with veterans and emergency services, and was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for his research.
Charlotte Kyte
Charity Manager
Charlotte has a strong background in administration and data management. Alongside this professional experience, her longstanding appreciation of dogs has shaped her understanding of the bond between people and their dogs. This insight has been informed by personal experience, including the role her father’s dog played in supporting his recovery from a life-changing accident.
Mica Flett
Grants Fundraiser
Mica has worked in the charity sector for over ten years now, working for causes close to her heart. Having family connections to the military and a full understanding of PTSD and the assistance dog world, Mica found Service Dogs UK to be the perfect fit. Her previous experience and skills make a big difference to those we support.
Charlotte Ball
Digital Marketing Assistant
Charlotte has a background in fashion design and a lifelong love of dogs. After completing a Master’s in Digital Marketing, she worked as a self-employed digital marketer. Through client outreach, she discovered Service Dogs UK and is now dedicated to supporting Veterans and rescue dogs through her work with the charity.
Debbie Howarth
Community Fundraiser
Debbie has a diverse background spanning the charity, event management, and commercial sectors. Married to a former Royal Marine and past CEO of a military charity, she understands the impact of PTSD on Veterans and their families. Passionate about fundraising and building charity partnerships, Debbie is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting the inspirational work of Service Dogs UK’s life-changing work. A lifelong dog lover, she shares her home with two rescue dogs.
Nigel Rousell
South West Hub Manager
A retired Surrey Police Officer and former Police Dog Handler and Instructor, Nigel joined Service Dogs UK in 2015 as a volunteer trainer. After relocating to the South West, he continued supporting and volunteering with SDUK, eventually founding our second hub in 2020. Thanks to Nigel and his dedicated team — many of whom have been involved since day one — the hub is now thriving, supporting new partnerships across the region.
Louise Massey
Essex Hub Manager &
Veteran Outreach Coordinator
Louise has worked with dogs for nearly two decades, beginning her career as a veterinary nurse before moving into explosive detection dog handling at airports across the UK. She also has extensive experience training dogs in gun-dog work, obedience, and search. Lou joined SDUK in early 2026 and now serves as both a Hub Manager and Veteran Outreach Coordinator. She’s passionate about the life-changing impact of our work and excited to help expand our hubs across the UK.
Emma Ford
South Coast Hub Manager
Emma began her career in the fitness industry, working as an Internal Quality Assurer but her lifelong passion has always been dogs. Having grown up with them she developed a deep appreciation for their companionship and the positive impact they have on people’s lives. With a strong interest in canine rehabilitation, Emma has experience in canine hydrotherapy and has also gained extensive knowledge in puppy and obedience training. She holds a range of qualifications with the IMDT further strengthening her expertise in dog training and behaviour.
Andy Coulter
Trustee & Volunteer Coordinator
Andy is a former police inspector with over 30 years of service, known for his leadership and commitment to wellbeing and welfare within UK policing. Now based in Brisbane, he brings his passion for dogs and mental health to Service Dogs UK as a Trustee and Volunteer Coordinator.
Ian Spencer
Trustee & South Coast
Volunteer Trainer
Ian is a retired design engineer and manufacturing consultant who has run his own businesses for over 30 years. A passionate dog trainer, he joined Service Dogs UK in 2019, became a Trustee in 2021, and now serves as Chair of the Board while continuing to train at the South Coast Hub.
Paul Hill
Trustee & Treasurer
Paul is a retired Chartered Accountant (FCA) with a career spanning both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. With a family history in the police and military, he was drawn to Service Dogs UK’s unique mission and now supports the charity as a Trustee.
Glen Ryder
SDUK Veteran and Trustee
Glen is an Army Veteran who served 23 years. Living and working in Sussex, Glen has been through the Service Dogs UK programme and is paired with black Lab, Beau.
Victoria Henry BVetMed MRCVS
Veterinary Trustee
Vicky graduated as a vet from the Royal Veterinary College in 2013 and has extensive experience in companion animal care and clinical leadership across private practice and the charity sector. Passionate about animal welfare and the human-animal bond, she currently works for Dogs Trust, supporting both dogs and the people who depend on them. Vicky joined SDUK in 2025 as Veterinary Trustee and is committed to using her expertise in canine health and welfare to help the charity grow while ensuring the highest standards of care for its dogs.

We are proud to welcome Dame Kelly Holmes as an Ambassador for our charity! Dame Kelly is a double gold Olympic legend, a Veteran of our UK Armed Forces and an inspirational mental health champion. We are honoured to have the support of such an iconic figure who is a great role model to young people and fantastic supporter of Veterans in the UK. She is pictured with one of our wonderful assistance dog partnerships Martin and Ollie.
Tom Gaymor
SDUK Ambassador
Previously a racing driver, Tom now works as a TV commentator and presenter. Best known for his work on Sky Sports F1, Eurosport, and TNT Sport. Tom has also appeared on ITV Sport and BBC 5LIVE. Most recently Tom’s voice will be familiar to motorsport fans in Britain and throughout the world as the lead commentator on Sky Sports F1’s Indycar and Indy 500 coverage, F1TV, and Discovery/Eurosport’s coverage of Olympic Games, World Superbikes and Le Mans 24.
Alongside Tom’s TV duties he works as a consultant in the motorsports industry providing a vast spectrum of deliverables, ranging from athlete management, to performance development and strategy. Clients include; Motorsport UK, and London’s Air Ambulance. Tom is also passionate in his support for policing and is also an ambassador for DIVERT London, the NFRSA and the LRPD trust.
