Why choose Service Dogs UK?
At SDUK, we are proud to be able to transform not just one, but two lives at a time. But you don’t have to take our word for it, read our Veteran’s stories.

Veteran, Mark & Assistance Dog, Jerry
After suffering a life-altering injury while serving in the army, Mark Lanchbery was diagnosed with PTSD – a condition which presents daily challenges. His assistance dog, Jerry, is there for him every step of the way.
Veteran, Rebecca & Assistance Dog, Bracken
A military deployment gave me PTSD. A Spaniel saved me. I was proud to serve my country, but I didn’t understand why my life was crumbling – that’s where Service Dogs UK stepped in.

Veteran, Lee & Assistance Dog, Ajax
Lee was our first ever Veteran, and Ajax was our first ever rescue dog! Together, with Mark and Jerry they were the first ones through our programme. In April 2025, Lee completed the infamous Marathon des Sables, a 250km race across the Sahara! Before setting off on his adventure, using the voice of Ajax, his now retired service dog, Lee explained why the challenge was so important to him.

What our Veterans have to say

Veteran, PJ & Assistance Dog, Dexter
“Dexter has already made a massive impact on all the family.”

Veteran, Jordan & Assistance Dog, Teddy
“SDUK have given me something I never thought I would have, some hope that it will be OK.”
Veteran, Dave & Assistance Dog, Logi
“The charity have given me my best friend who I know will have my back. That has allowed me to move forward with my life, even with CPTSD. Thank you so very, very much.”

Veteran, Glen & Assistance Dog, Beau
“When you have PTSD it’s very individual; your journey, it’s not the same as the next persons. However the training brings you together, it gives you so much benefit and introduces you to new friends… and dogs.”
Veteran, Stu with Assistance Dog, Milo
“My anger has eased and I’ve found myself calmer but also able to do more, but when feeling anxious or down. Milo has been there to help me through it by either physically something to do, or just being with me.”

Veteran, Bill with Assistance Dog, Patch
“Out of darkness, if you are fortunate, there is the possibility of light that will come and shine upon you.”
