Two inspirational Veteran and Assistance Dog partnerships have just received their 5 year service medals!
Service Dogs UK is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone as two Veteran and assistance dog partnerships were awarded their 5 Year Service Medals, recognising five years of working together as accredited PTSD assistance dog teams.
Veterans Dave and Logi, and Glen and Beau, first met through the Service Dogs UK PTSD Assistance Dog Programme. Over nine months, they trained alongside one another, learning not only how to work with their own dogs but also finding strength, encouragement and friendship in each other.
What began as two Veterans and two rescue dogs embarking on a new chapter has grown into two extraordinary partnerships that continue to demonstrate the life-changing impact of assistance dogs.
For Dave and Glen, their dogs have become far more than companions. Logi and Beau provide practical support with the daily challenges of living with PTSD while offering reassurance, confidence and independence. Together, each partnership has rebuilt lives that were once overshadowed by trauma.
The programme also transformed the lives of Logi and Beau. Both rescue dogs were given a second chance, finding purpose through their work supporting the Veterans they were paired with. Their journeys are a powerful reminder that our programme changes two lives at a time—those of the Veteran and the dog.
Beyond the partnerships themselves, lasting friendships have been formed. Dave and Glen continue to support one another, celebrating successes, overcoming challenges and sharing a unique understanding of the journey they have travelled together.
Receiving their 5 Year Service Medals is recognition not only of the incredible service provided by Logi and Beau, but also of the dedication, resilience and commitment shown by both Veterans over the past five years.
At Service Dogs UK, support does not end once a partnership graduates. The charity remains committed to every Veteran and every dog throughout their working lives, providing ongoing guidance, welfare support and opportunities to reconnect through events and the wider Service Dogs UK community. We also offer the option for a successor dog if a Veterans PTSD Assistance Dog is no longer able to work alongside them.
Every partnership is unique, and every story is different. For Service Dogs UK, it is a privilege to stand alongside those who have served, helping them build lasting partnerships that restore confidence, independence and hope.
